Is your home or business near treed or grassy areas? If so, wildfire is a real threat. Protect your home and yard from the risk of wildfires!

Bring wood debris, branches and dead fall from your yard to the location listed below for chipping.

Chipping events have been completed for the 2025 season. Stay tuned for the announcement of 2026 chipping events in your area.

FireSmart is a planning tool that helps to reduce wildfires from happening in our community.

Your role

Whether you are a homeowner or business and despite your industry or government, we have a shared responsibility to lessen the effects of wildfires and prepare for the threat of wildfire in the County.

Wildfire education

Education on how to reduce their exposure to the risk of wildfire is an important part of FireSmart if you are a public or private landowner. The County has promoted FireSmart through a number of initiatives including workshops for residents, information booths at trade shows, wood chipping demonstrations, among others.

FireSmart Assessments

County residents and businesses can sign up for a free FireSmart Assessment.

FireSmart Assessments reduce the risk of wildfires on private property and the surrounding community and are available spring through fall.

A member of Regional Fire Services:

  • Visits your property checking for wildfire hazards on the exterior of buildings and your surrounding property,

  • Provides a customized, detailed report with findings from the assessment,

  • Provides practical tips to make your property safer from the risk of wildfires

Assessments can take up to two hours to complete and the property owner needs be present during the assessment.

Once the property owner completes mitigation work on their property, they can schedule to have a follow-up assessment completed by Regional Fire Service.
