FireSmart™ Wood Chipping Events
Is your home or business near treed or grassy areas? If so, wildfire is a real threat. Protect your home and yard from the risk of wildfires!
Bring wood debris, branches and dead fall from your yard to the location listed below for chipping.

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: 73022 Township Rd 704 #6
Driving directions: From Hwy 43, drive south through Dimsdale and then turn right onto Township Road 712. Take the first left, driving south on Range Road 73 for 3.2 km. Drive east on Township Road 710, then take the first right onto south Range Road 73 for another 3.2 km. Turn right onto Township Road 704, finally turning right onto Township Road 704A.
FireSmart™ is a planning tool that helps to reduce wildfires from happening in our community.
Your role
Whether you are a homeowner or business and despite your industry or government, we have a shared responsibility to lessen the effects of wildfires and prepare for the threat of wildfire in the County.
Wildfire education
Education on how to reduce their exposure to the risk of wildfire is an important part of FireSmart™ if you are a public or private landowner. The County has promoted FireSmart™ through a number of initiatives including workshops for residents, information booths at trade shows, wood chipping demonstrations, among others.
FireSmart™ Assessments
County residents and businesses can sign up for a free FireSmart™ Assessment.
FireSmart™ Assessments reduce the risk of wildfires on private property and the surrounding community and are available spring through fall.
A member of Regional Fire Services:

Visits your property checking for wildfire hazards on the exterior of buildings and your surrounding property,

Provides a customized, detailed report with findings from the assessment,
-
Provides practical tips to make your property safer from the risk of wildfires
Assessments can take up to two hours to complete and the property owner needs be present during the assessment.
Once the property owner completes mitigation work on their property, they can schedule to have a follow-up assessment completed by Regional Fire Service.
