We recruit NFPA Certified Firefighters - Clairmont and Dunes Stations.

The job title says "part-time" but most County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service (CGPRFS) part-time members have the option to work close to full-time hours if they want. You can also work part-time hours and pursue other employment in the area. It's the perfect way to gain diverse municipal firefighting experience to build your career AND explore life in our remarkable location.

Who are part time firefighters?
What do part time firefighters do?
If you’re interested in becoming a part-time firefighter, you're required to:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a current, Class 3 Alberta Driver's License with airbrake endorsement
- Demonstrate a safe driving record with a Drivers Abstract
- Recognized Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Medical First Responder or higher (minimum 80 hours of training)
- Pass a medical assessment with a County Regional Fire Service approved physician and undergo a psychological assessment with a County Regional Fire Service approved psychologist
You are also required to have the following education completed and passed successfully:
- Grade 12 education
- RCMP Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- ICS 100 (Incident Command System course)
- NFPA 1001 Level 1 and Level 2 Certification (IFSAC and/or ProBoard)
- NFPA 472 Awareness and Operation Certification (IFSAC and/or ProBoard)
- Incident Command System 100 Certificate
What continuing education and training will I have access to?

What compensation can I expect?
-
During training: $25.46 per hour
-
After training:$34.20 per hour plus:
-
6% vacation pay
-
$1.25 shift differential for every hour worked on a 14 hour night shift
-
Eligibility for pro-rated health and wellness benefits (under collective agreement)
What we offer
You’re the type of person we’re looking for if you:
- Have a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Have an aptitude for physically demanding but rewarding work
- Are willing to work two 40 hour weeks Monday - Friday for mandatory recruit training
- Can commit to a minimum of 48 hours (four 12 hour shifts) per month as per the collective agreement with the County of Grande Prairie Professional Firefighters Association Local 5108
