More information

Please note that progress of road construction projects heavily depends on the weather, and their finish may be delayed into the next construction season if the weather is consistently poor.

Motorists are advised to obey all signs, flag persons, and be extremely cautious when travelling through construction zones. Please allow extra time for travel.

The County thanks residents and travelers for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction season.

Grading involves digging out an existing road structure to re-align level or widen the road and building a new road from the bottom up.

Repaving work involves adding a new layer of pavement. This type of work can also include minor spot fixes and milling the surface.

Base pave work involves removing the top layer of gravel, repairing the base of the road if needed, then packing of the current road surface, and paving a layer of asphalt.

Intersection improvements can involve traffic light installations and/or the improvement, extension, expansion, or addition of traffic lanes.

Major Traffic Impacts: These projects take place through most of the construction season. Signage will be in place and there will be full and/or partial road closures for the duration of the project with possible detour routes. Adjacent and crossing roads may also be affected by road closures and/or detours as well as heavy equipment traffic.

Moderate Traffic Impacts: These projects take anywhere from weeks to a couple of months to complete, and typically do not last for the entire construction season. Signage and flag persons are always on site. There can be temporary detours or periods of time with alternating lanes and/or rough/non-gravel driving surfaces while these projects are taking place, as well as speed reductions.

Minor Traffic Impacts: These projects take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to complete. Signage will be in place and temporarily lane restrictions may be in place.

Street light repairs are done by ATCO. If you see a street light in need of repair, please report it via ATCO's website.
