Fire Bans
Current Status: Fire Advisory in Effect, May 5, 2026 |
The County of Grande Prairie has issued a fire advisory for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley, effective 1:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, until further notice.
The advisory is in effect due to increasing spring temperatures and no forecasted rainfall. The County is still issuing fire permits, and all existing fire permits are still valid. Residents are advised that any burning without a valid fire permit, other than a campfire, is prohibited.
Those who must burn should follow permit guidelines and safe burning practices, including always remaining on site until burning is complete.
As a reminder, burning is never permitted when winds reach, or are forecasted to reach, 12 kilometres per hour or higher.
