  • Visible Smoke Due to BC Wildfire

    Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 10:50 p.m.: The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service would like to advise the public that visible smoke is due to a fire burning in British Columbia, approximately 18 kilometres west of the Alberta border. There is no threat to County residents. County crews and Alberta Forestry are aware of the fire and are monitoring the situation.

  • Final Update: Fire in Catherine Estates Now Under Control

    Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 5:15 p.m.: The wildfire in Catherine Estates at 720075 Range Road 95, west of Saskatoon Mountain, is now under control. County Regional Fire Service crews remain on site to monitor and extinguish any hot spots. Alberta Wildfire crews have left the scene.  

    The public is asked to avoid the area. Thank you for your cooperation. This is the final update.

    County Regional Fire Service and Alberta Wildfire crews are responding to a fire in Catherine Estates at 720075 Range Road 95, west of Saskatoon Mountain. The fire is currently being held, and there is no danger to the public.

    County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Re-issues Fire Ban  

    Effective at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service will issue a fire ban for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley. This will be the second fire ban issued this month; it replaces the former Fire Restriction issued on May 21.

  • County Seeking Election Workers for the 2025 Municipal Election

    The County of Grande Prairie is seeking election workers for the 2025 Municipal Election this fall. 

    The election will take place on October 20, 2025, and the County is looking for workers to work during advance vote days and on Election Day. Election workers are responsible to support polling station operations, including opening and closing stations, supporting voters with voting instructions and identification verification, and ensuring the secrecy of the vote.

    County of Grande Prairie Downgrades Fire Ban to Fire Restriction Reminding Public to Still Exercise Caution

    Effective at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service will downgrade the Fire Ban with a Fire Restriction for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley.
