Province of Alberta - Wapiti Recreation and Trail Management Plan

The Wapiti Recreation and Trail Management plan covers the area that runs along the Wapiti River valley south of the City of Grande Prairie in both the County of Grande Prairie and the Municipal District of Greenview.

This plan is being developed by the Government of Alberta which has created an Advisory Committee for the Province of Alberta’s Wapiti Recreation and Trail Management plan. The committee includes local municipalities, stakeholders, and Indigenous communities to provide advice, input, and suggestions for the plan development.

County Council appointed Councillors Leanne Beaupre and Amanda Frayn to participate on the committee. Council has also emphasized the need for the Government of Alberta to complete extensive public engagement and communication to the public on the Wapiti Recreation and Trail Management plan.

Alberta Parks and Environment has created a Fact Sheet and Wapiti Recreation and Trail Management Plan to provide more information to the public.
