Voter Registration
Amendments to the Local Authorities Election Act required voters to register to vote in a Municipal Election and for the municipality to prepare a permanent elector register. The list of registered voters is provided to the County under a Data Sharing Agreement with Elections Alberta.
The cut-off for advance voter registration for the 2025 Municipal Election was August 15, 2025. Voters who have not registered prior to this date will be required to register at the voting station and must bring the appropriate identification.
The following information is collected during the registration process:
- Name – First and Last
- Address – Residential Address and Mailing address (if different)
- Birthdate
- Signed Statement – Form 13 Elector Register
Voters are still encouraged to register online for future municipal or provincial elections by visiting Voterlink.
The personal information collected by the County is used to support the administrative requirements of the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) and is authorized under section 13(1) of the LAEA and section 4(c) of the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA). The County is committed to protecting personal information it collects and uses. The information in the electors register may only be used to verify voter eligibility, and no candidate, official agent or scrutineer shall access or use the electors register, including, without limitation, by taking a photograph or making a copy of the electors register.
