The County of Grande Prairie’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan sets the course for how Council will strengthen our communities and support long‑term regional success over the next four years. The plan highlights the priorities that matter most to residents and outlines Council’s vision for a strong, safe and sustainable future.
Inside, you’ll find Council’s direction on enhancing quality of life, supporting economic opportunity, planning for thoughtful growth, improving transportation networks and ensuring accountable, transparent governance. These priorities provide clear guidance for the County as programs, services and future initiatives are developed.
The Strategic Plan shapes the County’s decisions through 2030 and drives the actions that support safe, vibrant and sustainable communities.

Council’s Strategic Priorities
The 2026–2030 Strategic Plan is organized into five priority areas:

Supporting safe, active and connected communities.
Economy
Capitalize on our economic strength to sustain long-term prosperity.
Transportation
Enable the movement of goods and people to and through our County.
Land Use and Management
Make disciplined land decisions reflecting County priorities.
Governance and Organizational Excellence
Lead responsibly to maintain trust and stability.
Council and administration regularly monitor the plan, track progress and report to the public annually. This process ensures the County can adjust to accommodate change, challenges and new opportunities that arise.
The strategic priorities, which are part of the Strategic Plan, are reviewed and frequently updated to ensure they continue to reflect the needs and views of the County.
