Extended Hours for Property Tax Payments
Property Taxes are due June 30. The County offers easy online payment options and extended hours on June 26, 29, and 30 to accommodate in-person payments.
Extended Hours: Friday, June 26; Monday, June 29; and Tuesday, June 30 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including over the lunch hour.

Update on Lowered Borrowing Costs for Municipalities — The Committee received an information report from Administration regarding upcoming changes to borrowing costs for municipalities, effective in 2025. According to a Government of Alberta announcement issued on September 26, 2024, municipalities will now pay the same interest rate as the province for loans used for infrastructure and capital projects, leading to reduced borrowing costs.

Snow removal crews keeping residents moving safely
The County of Grande Prairie’s dedicated snow removal crews have been putting over 30 specialized vehicles to use clearing snow and ice from more than 3,600 km of roads.

Action on Unsold Tax Sale Properties — Council directed Administration to bring the unsold properties from 2022, 2023 and 2024 with additional information to a future Committee of the Whole meeting for discussion. The County’s Land and Development Services department will review these parcels and provide future recommendations on how to proceed.
County of Grande Prairie Limiting Disruption to Mailing Services
County residents will continue to receive regular County mail with minimal disruptions in service during the ongoing labour dispute between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

Municipal Census Demographic Report — Council received the 2024 Municipal Census Demographic Report as information. The report outlined results of the municipal census conducted by the County of Grande Prairie from April 3 to July 2, 2024. With a strong 95.2 per cent response rate, the census revealed that the County has a population of 26,701 residents, an increase of 5,500 residents since the 2012 census. Clairmont stands out as the largest hamlet in the County and the third largest in Alberta. Additionally, 61.9 per cent of respondents reported having a family physician in the Grande Prairie region. Collected with a strong response rate of over 95 per cent, the data highlights the County’s appeal as a vibrant community and an attractive place to live and work, with over 5,500 new residents joining since 2012.
Regional Fire Training Centre Opened, Strengthening Firefighting Preparedness for County and City of Grande Prairie, and MD of Greenview
The County Regional Fire Service, in partnership with the City of Grande Prairie and Municipal District (MD) of Greenview, made a significant step in enhancing regional emergency preparedness with a state-of-the-art Fire Training Centre. The grand opening of the new facility took place at the County Dunes Fire Station yesterday, Wednesday, October 30, 2024. This project was also made possible through the support of our corporate sponsors, TC Energy and Pembina Pipeline Corporation.
