County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Issues Fire Ban
Effective at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service will be issuing a Fire Ban for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley. The Fire Ban replaces the former Fire Restriction issued on April 30.

County Regional Fire, Alberta Forestry responding to out-of-control wildfire in the area of Deer Run, Deer Ridge Estates Subdivisions
Update #2: Saturday, May 3, 2025, 5:05 p.m. – The Morgan's Mountain fire is now being held, and the cause is currently under investigation. Range Road 50 has reopened between Township Road 742 and Township Road 744, however, there are still some local traffic restrictions on the south entrance of the Morgan Mountain subdivision. The south perimeter of the fire has been reinforced with a fire break.
Update #1: Saturday, May 3, 2025, 2:39 p.m. - Three homes have been evacuated due to the fire's proximity. While no homes have been lost, a few sheds and an RV have been lost. Crews continue working to contain the perimeter, and no further spread is expected at this time.
Saturday, May 3, 2025, 1:00 p.m. - County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service and Alberta Wildfire crews are on scene responding to a wildfire in the Morgan's Mountain area.
Effective at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service will be issuing a Fire Restriction for the entire County, along with the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley, to align with Alberta Wildfire’s move to a fire restriction.

Spring 2025 Wildfire Preparedness — Council directed Administration to allocate $425,000 to support Regional Fire Service having firefighters in place at all fire stations during extreme conditions and peak burning times, to ensure prompt response.
County Council delivers on resident priorities of roads and public safety in 2025 final budget
County of Grande Prairie Council approved the 2025 budget with a 2.4 per cent municipal tax rate increase to ensure alignment with public feedback which consistently identifies roads and public safety as key priorities. The increase translates to approximately $57.85 annually, or $4.82 per month on a residential property valued at $575,000.
